Thanks for taking an interest in us. Human Dynamo Workshop is a small but mighty company. Over the last couple of years staff numbers have fluctuated between 4 to 8 people depending on the work in hand.
Lately we are receiving many applications for work. However there are very limited number of full time positions that we offer over a year. To handle the fluctuations of work flow, we often use self employed contractors that have particular talents or skills that relate to the job in hand. We give our priority to our known pool of contractors, people who have worked for us before. We do our best to keep them busy but this is not always possible.
We do have goals and plans to grow. And especially in the area of digital model making.
Recruitment Policy
Applications are seen by appointment only. Please do not turn up at our door with a folio under your arm. We often have strict confidentiality agreements with our clients. Also we are always busy and need to set aside time to talk.
E-mail or mail us first, including a brief C V and portfolio of a few pieces of your best work. Send a link to your web site if you have one. We like to keep all our all applications digital to save paper and filing space.
All applications are accessed and filed. We'll get back to you if we want to see more.
Interviews
This we do invite you in for a interview, this is what we'll be looking at:-
- Skill set and training.
- Physical modelmaking and technical workshop experience.
- Materials understanding.
- Creative component. How artistically talented are you and where are your strengths? Do you have an eye for design? What is your drawing ability? Can you sculpt? Can you paint?
- Computer fluency and software understanding. What are you most proficient with?
- Your passion. What aspect of industrial art / model making are you most into?
- Personally type. How would you fix into our team?
- Lifestyle feasibility - New Zealand resident? What are your future plans?
New Zealand has very strict immigration and work-permit laws. There are many young talented kiwis, keen to start a career in our field. They will be our first option when filling vacancies of inexperienced staff.
Internships
Work experience or internships are uncommon. Occasionally we have offered them, accessed on a case by case basis. They always involve making the coffee and tea and sweeping the floor. You most hold a drivers lience for a manual ( so you can run ). Internships are never accepted for more than two weeks on an unpaid basis.
