The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
Human Dynamo Workshop was fortunate to bring Middle-earth to life, building a range of hero props and set pieces for the art department on Amazon Prime's The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022).
Forging Machine
We designed and built a forging machine that appears in the final minutes of the season finale.
This fantastical device combined:
Motors and moving mechanical components
3D-printed elements
Hand carving, moulding and casting
Hand-applied textures and a mesmerising layered paint finish
The result is a screen-ready machine that feels ancient, powerful and entirely at home in the world of Middle-earth.
Lindon Arches, Lamps and Lanterns
Standing around 6–7 metres tall, the Lindon arches were no small feat. Human Dynamo fabricated these large-scale structures, which now sit amongst the lush greenery of the TV series' Elven city of Lindon. Hanging from the arches are lamps, also fabricated by our team, designed to complement the elegant Elven architecture and detailing.
We also created standing lamps, plus ship lanterns which can be seen aboard the vessel sailing from Númenor, tying nautical design cues into the broader visual language of the show.
Harfoot Carts
Human Dynamo fabricated the Harfoot carts seen throughout the series. For us, these were all about blending the old world with the new. In-house, we used age-old woodworking techniques: bending, carving and whittling timber into characterful, hand-made forms. Then subtly integrated modern, battery-powered elements beneath the surface.
The Production’s Art Department then immersed these pieces fully into the world of the Harfoots, layering on set dressing and story details to create the nomadic vehicles you see on screen.
